Exhibition featuring photographs of Sinéad O'Connor, Hozier, U2, Rory Gallagher and more coming to Ireland
The travelling exhibition will begin on May 28 at Dún Laoghaire's dlr LexIcon.
Ramon Music Exhibitions have announced their 50 Years of Irish Rock Through the Lens of Dutch Photographers exhibition.
Featuring the works of Rob Verhorst, Paul Bergen, Gijsbert Hanekroot, Govert de Roos, Patricia Steur and Andreas Terlaak, the display will showcase 50 photographs of Irish artists, including U2, Sinéad O'Connor, Rory Gallagher, Van Morrison, Bob Geldof and Hozier.
With the featured photographers in attendance, the exhibition will be launched by the Dutch ambassador for Ireland in Dún Laoghaire's dlr LexIcon on May 28, where it will remain until June 30.
The display will be brought to Cork City Library on July 4 and will stay there until August 29. It will then be moved to Dublin on November 1, remaining at the Phoenix Park Visitor Centre until November 30.
"Throughout the years Irish music has always resonated strongly with Dutch audiences," said Dutch-born Dungarvan-based Ramon Muntjewerff from Ramon Music Exhibitions. "Often bands and artists from Ireland had their first international successes in the Netherlands.
"From Boomtown Rats in the 1970s, to U2 in the early 1980s and Sinéad O'Connor in the late eighties and contemporary Irish artists that are finding their feet on mainland Europe, somehow the road to musical success outside of Ireland often starts in the Netherlands.
"I'm proud to work with multiple generations of photographers for this exhibition, so that the collection of photographers truly spans five decades. It gives a unique perspective on the careers of Irish musicians, making waves far beyond the shores of their island."
