Dublin City Council Dublin City Fleadh: Returning this month with its biggest lineup of acclaimed Irish and international traditional musicians yet

Following on from last year’s wildly successful gathering, Dublin City Council Dublin City Fleadh returns with its biggest lineup of acclaimed Irish and international traditional musicians yet!

Now in its fourth year, the live action is taking place in five city centre hubs – Smithfield Square, Meeting House Square, Wolfe Tone Square, Parliament Street and Capel Street – which are all within easy walking distance of each other.

From high energy céilís and mythical art workshops to spontaneous pop-up sessions and the Fleadh’s showpiece big name performances, it’s all family friendly and free with no tickets required.

Just immerse yourself in the wonderful music on offer!

Madra Salach, The Scratch, Sharon Shannon Big Band, Altan, Dervish and Kíla are among the trad powerhouses who’ll be taking to the Smithfield Square main stage with more soon to be announced.

In Meeting House Square, Fleadh people can look forward to intimate acoustic performances, collaborations and seisiúns – with Andy Irvine and Quilty among the Saturday star turns and the Máirtín O’Connor Trio brewing up a storm on Sunday.

It’s recitals and céilís galore in Wolfe Tone Square with Na Píobairí Uilleann Piping with Wynton Moore; Aoife Fadian and Síofra Ní Mhóráin; the Martin Family Harp Trio; An Chéad Ghlúin Eile; Caitlín Nic Gabhann and Ciarán Ó Maonaigh; Seán McKeon; and Trad is Amach all making sure your dancing shoes get a workout.

Stroll down pedestrianised Capel Street for more acoustic sessions from exceptional trad musicians, and cross over the Liffey to Parliament Street to catch high-octane sets from the likes of Faró and the Fingal Mummers, as well as enjoying arts and crafts activities and family storytelling.

And that really is just for starters...

A feast for the senses, the Fleadh offers a modern, urban take on the traditional rural music festival. It honours the spirit of the ancient Irish gathering where music, dance and folklore were passed from generation to generation.
