Talking to Hot Press yesterday at the Guinness Amplify launch in 4 Dame Lane, Dublin, Snow Patrol drummer Jonny Quinn told us about the soundtrack he's been assembling for Shooting For Socrates, the new James Erskine film which is set in a 1986 Belfast gripped by violence but also looking forward to Northern Ireland’s participation that year in the Mexican World Cup.
Real life ’86 stars Gerry Armstrong and David Campbell took to the studio with Jonny and Gary last month to re-record the ‘We’re Not Brazil We’re Northern Ireland’ footie anthem that travelled with them.
"It's the most star-struck I've ever been!" Jonny enthuses. "The music and the film are both absolutely great."
The Wonder Villains and A Plastic Rose also contribute to the film, which stars Four Weddings And A Funeral/The Mummy man John Hannah as Billy Bingham, Shameless’ Aaron McCusker as the aforementioned Mr. Armstrong and Game Of Thrones’ Conleth Hill as Jackie Fullerton. The pedigree cast also includes old Hot Press pals Richard Dormer and Bronagh Gallagher.
