WATCH: New Hozier Video
Irish musician Hozier has caused a stir with his new video, clocking up over 70,000 YouTube views. ‘Take me to the Church’ is the title track from his 4-track debut EP.
The powerful black and white video is as thought-provoking as it is visually striking, raising issues of homophobia and violence.
Hozier, the one-man band from Co Wicklow is happy that his first music video deals with such important and relevant issues.
“The video references the recent increase of organised attacks and torturing of homosexuals in Russia, which is subsequent to a long, hateful, and oppressive political campaign against the LGBT community.”
“The song was always about humanity at its most natural, and how that is undermined ceaselessly by religious organisations and those who would have us believe they act in its interests.”
The singer collaborated with Irish director Brendan Canty and his Feel Good Lost team on the video.
