Morrissey pays tribute to The Pretenders by releasing cover of ‘Back On The Chain Gang’
The controversial singer has covered the song as part of an upcoming double-vinyl reissue of his album, Low In High School.
The cover is a tribute to close friend, Chrissie Hynde - front-woman of The Pretenders. The Smith’s singer plays guitar in the retro-styled video. Recently, the song has become a staple of Morrissey's live shows.
As ever, it’s been a lively year for Morrissey. He made headlines by making comparisons between ISIS and Halal meat, referred to Hitler as ‘left wing’, and criticised the treatment of ‘far-right’ co-founder of the English Defence League, Tommy Robinson.
Morrissey returned to touring on October 31 when he began the latest leg his 2018 tour at The Majestic Ventura Theatre in California.
The reissue of Low In High School will be released December 7. It includes four unreleased songs and five live covers of his favourite artists. Watch the cover below.
