Rod Stewart cancels the remainder of his US tour following heart surgery

Rod Stewart has cancelled the remainder of his One Last Time tour, following a routine coronary stent procedure. The singer will take four weeks off to recover, before returning to stage, as advised by medical professionals.

A representative for the rockstar took to Instagram stating, "doctors are pleased with his recovery, and Rod is doing very well and has returned to his normal daily activities."

Stewart also had a message of his own: "I'm already feeling better and very much on the mend. I want to thank the doctors, nurses and everyone who has taken such wonderful care of me. I'm deeply disappointed to miss these shows and sorry to let my fans down, but I look forward to getting back on stage and having a good time with you all again soon."

The cancellation comes after a string of other health concerns for the British singer. Shows in Nevada and California were postponed as Stewart was on vocal rest due to a sinus infection. He was later diagnosed with a respiratory infection which led to him contracting laryngitis.

However, fans in California were quick to criticise Stewart after he was captured at a World Cup match in Boston that same night.

Whilst performing in Utah, the singer halted performances to breathe through an oxygen mask after nearly fainting, then carried on with the show.

In 2019 the singer revealed he had been battling prostate cancer for three years, but was fortunate enough to have caught it early.

In 2023, Stewart called into a live Sky News phone-in segment, he then offered to donate money for medical scans after hearing stories about ordeals with the NHS. On the call he described his own experience of an "empty" private clinic whilst attending an annual check-up.

Stewart told Sky News that, "there are people dying because they cannot get scans," and criticised the British government, "in all my years in this country I've never seen it so bad... change the bloody government."

Sir Rod Stewart began his career busking with a harmonica and went on to perform the largest concert ever, attracting over four million attendees in Rio De Janeiro. He was a member of multiple bands, including the Jeff Beck Group and The Faces. He is most known for his songs 'Maggie May' and 'Tonight's the Night.'
