The film will showcase the church sex abuse scandal of the early 2000's
This January a new journalism themed film based on a true story will hit cinemas.
Spotlight details the events concerning the investigation of the church in 2001, which discovered that a number of priests molested over 90 innocent boys. The story was found out by The Boston Globe, and served as a transformational and extremely noteworthy story in history. The movie explores the atrocious acts that the priests committed, the coverup of their lawyers and the lengths that the journalists at The Boston Globe went to in order to reveal the unjust crimes.
The film is directed by Thomas McCarthy and will star Mark Ruffalo, Rachel McAdams, Michael Keaton, Liev Schreiber and Stanley Tucci.
It ill hit Irish cinemas January 29, 2016.
