Having previously produced and directed 2013’s Sound City, Dave Grohl collaborates with the rest of the Foo Fighters on Sonic Highways, an HBO eight-parter that makes its Stateside debut on October 17.
In it, they create “a musical map” by travelling all over the country and along the way meeting people like Chuck D, Willie Nelson, Buddy Guy, Billy Gibbons, Bonnie Raitt, Slash, Dolly Parton, Rick Nielsen, Josh Homme, Joan Jett and President Obama who notes that, “American music is about people rejecting what is already there to create something entirely new.”
Sonic Highways is followed in November by an album of the same name, which finds the Foos recording a track apiece in Austin, Chicago, Los Angeles, Nashville, New Orleans, New York, Seattle and Washington D.C. with their old mucker Butch Vig.
