Netherlands join countries threatening to boycott Eurovision if Israel participates
Ireland, Iceland, Spain and Slovenia have previously announced similar positions.
The Netherlands has joined the countries threatening to boycott Eurovision 2026 if Israel competes.
Dutch broadcaster AvroTros said that they are taking the position in response to the loss of life in Gaza and the death of journalists.
The news comes one day after RTÉ took the same stance.
"RTÉ feels that Ireland’s participation would be unconscionable given the ongoing and appalling loss of lives in Gaza," the broadcaster said in a statement.
"RTÉ is also deeply concerned by the targeted killing of journalists in Gaza, and the denial of access to international journalists to the territory, and the plight of the remaining hostages.”
Similar statements were previously issued from Iceland, Spain and Slovenia.
The 70th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest is set to take place at the Wiener Stadthalle, with the final set for May 16 and the semi-finals taking place on May 12 and 14.
