Jeff Tweedy releases new single and video 'Lou Reed Was My Babysitter'
Tweedy has released six singles off his upcoming album so far.
Jeff Tweedy released a new single and music video today titled 'Loud Reed Was My Babysitter'.
This single will feature on Tweedy's forthcoming album Twilight Override, a triple album, which is set to release on September 26.
Tweedy is the lead vocalist for the midwestern rock band Wilco. Wilco has released 13 studio albums and has won two Grammy awards, with seven nominations in total.
Twilight Override is the fifth solo album Tweedy will have released, with his last being Together at Last in 2017.
'Lou Reed Was My Babysitter' captures the influence of artists such as Lou Reed on Tweedy's songwriting, and the inspiration Tweedy derives from live music performances.
“the joy in this dark music that Lou Reed made, and the beautiful conflict that it creates when you try and analyze it," said Tweedy."And how it was such a positive force for so many people. ‘My life was saved by rock and roll’—Lou Reed is saying the same thing. I was babysat by fucking Lou Reed, literally, in my bedroom as a 10-year-old, 12-year-old kid. His music was a more legitimate mentor to me than most of my teachers.”
Jeff Tweedy has released 5 other singles off of his upcoming album, including: 'Stray Cats in Spain', 'Out in the Dark', 'One Tiny Flower', and 'Enough'.
He will tour this triple album starting with a US tour beginning in October, followed by European and UK shows in February 2026. No tour dates have been announced for any shows in Ireland. Tickets for the tour can be found here.
