Watch: CMAT on Later... with Jools Holland
She recently sold out a headline show at Dublin's 3Arena, set for December 5.
CMAT has performed on BBC’s Later... with Jools Holland this past Sunday.
The singer-songwriter played two of her most recent singles, ‘Running/Planning' and ‘Take A Sexy Picture Of Me’ off her upcoming album EURO-COUNTRY, out August 29 through AWAL Recordings.
"It’s an abstracted view of societal pressure on women - specifically through a relationship lens," she said of ‘Running/Planning.' "You start dating someone, you get engaged, you get married, you have kids etc etc etc… everything has to follow this linear pattern. (That’s the reason for the repetitive chorus!)."
CMAT also spoke on ‘Take A Sexy Picture Of Me,' which addresses unfair social expectations.
"With the internet, every woman is now in the public eye,” she said. “And no matter who you are, or what you look like, somebody will take umbrage with the fact that you even exist, and there's no escaping it. [The] song is me calling out anyone who criticised my weight or how I looked… and it’s one of the best songs I've ever made."
The live songs feature a full band and background vocalists, with CMAT delivering her typical eccentric performance.
