No further action to be taken in Bobby Vylan Al-Quds Day investigation

Punk rapper Pascal Robinson-Foster (Bobby Vylan) will face no further action from the Met Police for his chant at an Al-Quds Day demonstration in London.

“The Met police have said no further action will be taken,” he wrote in a statement on social media. “The harassment by the Met police has been constant, multiple investigations, stopping me for no good reason, and circulating information about the band internally including an image of me which wasn’t necessary to include.”

“Despite all of this, I will not be intimidated. We continue!”

The investigation came after he chanted “death, death to the IDF,” referring to the Israeli Defense Forces and their actions in Gaza.

Last year, an independent UN inquiry concluded that Israel has committed genocide against Palestinians in Gaza.

In July, both members of Bob Vylan, Robinson-Foster and Laurence George Wade (Bobbie Vylan), launched legal proceedings against the BBC at the High Court in Ireland.

The cases are thought to relate to the corporation’s coverage of their appearance at the Glastonbury Festival last year, where Robinson-Foster led the same chant.

In December, an investigation by Avon and Somerset Police into the chant at Glastonbury also concluded with no further action being taken.

The lawsuits came just months after the duo issued separate High Court defamation proceedings against RTÉ over its coverage of the controversy. That case centres on an RTÉ news report which stated that Robinson-Foster had led "anti-Semitic chants” during the performance.
