Despite his notorious role as Walter White in Breaking Bad, actor Bryan Cranston refuses to be typecast and continues to exhibit his talent as an actor in the trailer for HBO's All The Way.
Bryan Cranston undertakes the daunting role of portraying American President Lyndon B. Johnson in the new trailer for All The Way and proves again why he is the worthy winner of 4 Emmy Awards.
This isn't Cranston's first reincarnation of the president. The HBO movie is a screen adaptation of the Broadway play which Cranston has already won a Tony Award for in 2014. Thus, he was the perfect choice when it came to cast.
All The Way will be a dramatisation of the events that Johnson found himself in following the assassination of the beloved John F. Kennedy. Often referred to as the 'Accidental President', Lyndon Johnson's time in the Office was a tumultuous one. From the passing of the Civil Rights Acts to the controversy and secrecy that shrouded the Vietnam War, he is arguably one of the most interesting presidents. In the trailer, it seems as though Cranston has captured the essence of Johnson, a President who wished to do right but wasn't quite sure how to do so.
The movie will focus on the passing of the Civil Rights Act. The Act hung in the balance after the assassination of Kennedy and huge amounts of pressure were placed upon Johnson to carry out the Act before it was long postponed again. The passing was of unprecedented significance regarding the desegregation of society and is the greatest testament of Johnson's legacy.
Cranston will be joined in cast by Anthony Mackie playing Martin Luther King, Melissa Leo as Lady Johnson and Bradley Whitford as Hubert Humphrey. Expectations for the show are sky high with Steven Spielberg acting as executive producer and original playwright Robert Schenkkan penning the script.
All The Way will premiere on HBO on May 21.
