Live Aid Concerts showcased in new Kerry photo exhibition
The exhibition is open to the public from 8 am to 6 pm, Monday to Friday.
A new photographic exhibition has opened to the public in Government Offices, Killarney, Co.Kerry.
It showcases images from the Live Aid concerts held at Wembley Stadium and JFK Stadium in July 1985, alongside audiovisual displays.
Live Aid was a dual-venue benefit concert held to raise funds for famine relief in Ethiopia. Organised by Bob Geldof and Midge Ure, it took place simultaneously in London and Philadelphia, and was broadcast to over 1.5 million people.
The exhibition features over 70 photographs of various performers who were among the most popular acts in the world during that period, including Status Quo, Madonna, U2, David Bowie, Tina Turner and Run DMC.
Originally launched in September 2025 at the National Photographic Archive in Temple Bar, Dublin, a travelling version of the exhibition has been created for Kerry. It can be viewed free of charge on the ground floor of the Government Offices, Killarney. The exhibition will also continue in Temple Bar.
"It is particularly gratifying that this exhibition has extended outside of Dublin, providing greater public access to a unique snapshot in time," said Minister for Culture, Communications, and Sport, Patrick O'Donovan.
"These once-in-a-generation images showcase Ireland's enduring empathy for those greatly affected by world hunger in all its guises."
