Experimental concert featuring members of Lankum, Landless, Poor Creature, ØXN and more to take place in Dublin next week

An experimental concert featuring members of Lankum, Landless, Poor Creature, ØXN and more is set to take place on August 6 in Dublin.

It will run at Space Upstairs in the Project Arts Centre from 7:30-8:15 pm.

The musicians featured include Ruth Clinton, Aoife Hammond, Eleanor Myler, Cormac MacDiarmada and Willie Stewart.

The concert is inspired by “Ireland’s revolutionary and military history, and composed in opposition to rearmament,” wrote the organisers on Instagram. “Expect psychedelic bugle, synths, electric guitar, propulsive drumming, theremin, fiddle and traditional singing.”

The show will coincide with an art exhibition, A Disentailing Deed, which features immersive video installations, handmade and archival objects and an original score.

The concert and exhibition are free to attend with a pay-what-you-can fundraiser for the Women in Hebron textiles cooperative in the West Bank and the Irish Activist Solidarity Fund.

Lankum, Landless, Poor Creature and ØXN share close ties due to overlap in members and sharing the same producer, John “Spud” Murphy.

Landless has an upcoming Irish and UK tour with a date in Dublin at The Sugar Club on November 6.

Poor Creature, meanwhile, released their debut album All Smiles Tonight last year, which Hot Press described, “Every so often, there’s that stretch of disbelief when you first hear a phenomenal album. Like, come on – how can each line and track be arranged so immaculately? How can music feel so effortless, so natural, when it is clearly borne of great effort?”
