Boney M announce first Dublin show in over a decade

Boney M have announced their first Dublin show in over a decade at The National Stadium on October 25.

The performance comes as part of their The Final Curtain Tour and will see hits such as ‘Rivers of Babylon,’ ‘Daddy Cool,’ ‘Ma Baker,’ ‘Rasputin’ and ‘Sunny.’

They will be supported by local jazz-funk band Cooks But We’re Chefs and the Dublin Disco All-Dayer DJs.

The last time they played in Dublin was in 2016 for The Beatyard Festival.

Formed in 1970s Germany, the disco group released their debut single ‘Baby, Do You Wanna Bump’ in 1975 and debut album Take the Heat off Me in 1976.

In 1978 their track ‘Rivers of Babylon’ reached No. 1 on the Official Irish Singles Chart for a five-week run. The following year, ‘Mary’s Boy Child / Oh My Lord’ reached No.1 in January 1979.

Last year, they played the Beyond The Pale Festival in Wicklow and celebrated their 50th anniversary last year with special remix releases, like R3HAB’s take on ‘Sunny’ and physical music packages including The Hits: The Mixes EP Collection.
