Tay Keith, producer for Drake, Travis Scott and Eminem, dead at age 29
He earned a Grammy nomination for his work on the track 'Sicko Mode'
Tay Keith has died at the age of 29. The American producer is best known for his work with rappers Drake, Travis Scott and Eminem.
Keith was found at his apartment in Nashville during a welfare check yesterday. Police said they do not suspect foul play. The cause of death has not yet been determined.
Tay Keith, real name Brytavious Lakeith Chambers, has scored multiple number-one tracks in the US, including the co-produced track ‘Sicko Mode’ by Travis Scott, as well as Drake’s ‘Jimmy Cooks’ featuring 21 Savage. He was nominated for the former for Best Rap Song at the Grammys.
He also worked with hip-hop legend Eminem on the track ‘Not Alike’ from the 2018 album Kamikaze. His 2023 track ‘Pound Town 2’ was his first as a lead artist to enter the charts.
Former collaborator BlocBoy JB paid tribute on his socials with a picture of them together and the caption: “Damn Cuz You Just Hurt Me Bad.”
Keith was born in Memphis, Tennessee and started publishing his music on platforms such as YouTube and DatPiff. He began gaining mainstream success in 2018 through producing for major hip-hop artists.
Keith also founded a Memphis-based music label with his manager.
