Van Morrison launches live concert archive
The service offers "front-row" access to his performance at the Stormont Hotel earlier this year, with more to be added.
Van Morrison has unveiled The Concert Vault, an online archive of his recent gigs.
Launched as part of a redesigned website, the Concert Vault is a new way for fans to experience the Belfast rocker’s live performances.
The platform gives “front-row” access to his gig at the Stormont Hotel in his hometown earlier this year, with more shows to be added in line with key dates.
The launch of The Concert Vault follows the release of his 47th studio album, Somebody Tried to Sell Me Bridge, in February.
“Van Morrison effortlessly applies his trademark style to injecting fresh life into – for the most part – familiar tunes covered or written by numerous blues luminaries, as well as unveiling some compelling new originals,” said Hot Press, scoring the album 8/10 in its review.
Just preceding the release of that record was the Northern Irishman’s headline performance at History In The Making - The Concert at the 3Arena, celebrating the 50th anniversary of Hot Press.
Van joined forces with The Boomtown Rats, Imelda May, The Frames, Florence Road and more of the biggest names in Irish music to commemorate the publication's milestone.
“Irresistible rhyming aside, there’s clearly a reason they call him Van The Man,” said Hot Press in its live report.
“Commanding the stage with the ice cool energy that only an artist who's been honing his chops for decades could possess, he has the entire venue heaving as he pours it all into his Them classic, 'Gloria'.”
Fans can purchase 7-day access to the vault for $20 via his website.
