Ash release 30 year anniversary edition of 1977

Ash are set to release a 30th anniversary edition of their album 1977, out on October 16 via BMG.

Ahead of the album, the Co.Down band released a live version of their song 'Girl From Mars', recorded at STABAL Studios in 2021.

Originally released in 1996, the album totes anthems such as 'Goldfinger', 'Kung Fu' and 'Oh Yeah'. It will be available in a Black & Green 'inkplosion' on vinyl.

LP2, remastered in 2026, features their song 'Does Your Mother Know', which has never previously been available on vinyl. Their CD2 version presents the band playing the full album live from the STABAL recordings.

They have announced a global 1977 tour that will kick off in September, with stops in Australia, New Zealand, Southeast Asia and Europe before wrapping up in the UK and Ireland in December.

"The Past. Last year we took you on a space trip with the new Ash album Ad Astra," said drummer Rick McMurray.

"The future. At the end of this year we bring you the live extravaganza that is the 30th anniversary of no. 1 debut 1977. The present? We're tying all this together to give you an updated live version of the single that propelled us to the stars this week in 1995."

Ash's most recent album Ad Astra was released in October 2025.

Ash held a live streamed concert from Belfast's Oh Yeah Centre in May, which featured an acoustic set of classic tracks and was hosted by BBC's Taylor Johnson.

Frontman Tim Wheeler announced last week he will be going on his first solo acoustic tour around Ireland in October.
