Violet Grohl, Dave Grohl’s daughter, announces debut album, releases single
Violet Grohl has performed alongside her father multiple times in the past, both with the Foo Fighters and with the remaining members of Nirvana
Violet Grohl has announced her debut album Be Sweet To Me, and released the singles ‘595’ and ‘Applefish’. Grohl is the daughter of Dave Grohl, the former drummer of Nirvana, and the frontman of the Foo Fighters.
The announcement follows the 19-year-old’s January single ‘THUM’, which, along with ‘595’ and ‘Applefish’, is set to feature on Be Sweet To Me. The album will feature 11 songs in total, and will be produced by Justin Raisen, who has previously worked with artists like Charli XCX and Sky Ferreira.
The album was inspired by the alternative music of the 80s and 90s, music in which her father was, of course, heavily involved.
“There's something so powerful about that period of music, from the messaging to the visuals, it's authentic and raw,” said Grohl. “I've listened to that stuff since I was a kid.”
Grohl has been performing 80s and 90s alternative music with her father from a young age, including a performance of Nirvana’s ‘Heart Shaped Box’ with the three remaining members of the band at a show in Los Angeles when she was only 13. Since then, she has performed with both the Foo Fighters and the remaining members of Nirvana multiple times, and was featured on the Foo Fighters 2023 single, ‘Show Me How’.
She released her first single ‘Nausea’, a collaboration with her father, in 2021.
Be Sweet To Me is out on May 29.
