Violet Grohl announces headline show in Dublin
Tickets go on sale Thursday, July 2 at 10AM.
American singer Violet Grohl has announced a headline show in Dublin at the Academy Green Room on October 11. The announcement follows the release of her debut album, Be Sweet To Me, which arrived on May 29.
Produced by Justin Raisen, who has previously worked with artists including Charli XCX and Sky Ferreira, the 11-track record features the singles 'THUM', '595' and 'Applefish'.
The 19-year-old is the daughter of Dave Grohl, the former drummer of Nirvana, and the frontman of the Foo Fighters.
She first came to wider attention through live performances before launching her solo career. When she was just 13, she performed Nirvana's 'Heart Shaped Box' with the three remaining members of the band at a show in Los Angeles.
Since then, she has performed with both the Foo Fighters and the remaining members of Nirvana multiple times, and was featured on the Foo Fighters 2023 single, ‘Show Me How’.
She released her first single ‘Nausea’, a collaboration with her father, in 2021.
In an interview with Hot Press following the release of her album, Grohl reflected on the themes behind the record, saying: "I've always been very fascinated by the macabre and by mortality and death. I've never been put off by it or found it scary. I've always found it very interesting and just a part of nature."
She added that songwriting has long been her way of processing difficult experiences, describing it as easier than "verbalising exactly what I've experienced in a direct way."
Tickets for the Dublin show go on sale Thursday, July 2 at 10AM.
