Foo Fighters' Other Voices show to air on RTÉ
Filmed last month at St. James' Church in Dingle, the iconic rock band's hour-long set will air Easter Monday on RTÉ2 Television.
Foo Fighters are set to appear in an Other Voices RTÉ television special this Easter Monday to celebrate 25 years of the concert series.
Titled Other Voices Presents: Foo Fighters Live in St James’ Church, it was filmed in St. James' Church in Dingle for an crowd of 80 fans. It was Foo Fighters' smallest live performance in decades.
The RTÉ special premieres ahead of the band's upcoming twelfth album, Your Favourite Toy, out Friday, April 24.
"We have always had such a great time in Ireland," said frontman Dave Grohl in a statement. "We have never done something like this before. We have played small shows to intimate audiences, but this is our first church."
"What we know of Other Voices is that it is something very special and also the town of Dingle is a really special place."
The one-hour special will feature songs from the new album, along with classic tracks like 'Times Like These' and 'My Hero'. The band also breaks out 'A320', a deep cut that hasn't been played live since 2000.
"It was a real privilege and delight to welcome Foo Fighters and their magnificent crew to The Church Of St James in Dingle," wrote Philip King, the founder of Other Voices. "It was a brilliant, moving and passionate performance. It was a wonderful musical gift; it was the smallest stadium gig in the world.”
"This was a singular moment in the history and story of Other Voices, and a truly unforgettable way to herald this significant anniversary year, celebrating 25 years of the show."
The special will premiere Monday, April 6, at 9:30pm on RTÉ 2 Television. It will be available to stream worldwide on RTÉ Player.
Foo Fighters played a rollicking surprise show to a crowd of 800 at The Academy in Dublin last month. Revisit Stuart Clark's glowing review of the show here.
