Villagers score Irish chart double
Becoming A Jackal is number one on both the mainstream and Indie album chart.
Hot Press is tickled not just pink but all sorts of colours for Conor J. O’Brien whose Becoming A Jackal has debuted at number one on the Irish Album chart.
It’s a hell of achievement given that he has such major label heavy hitters as Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, AC/DC, Mumford & Sons and Florence & The Machine tucked in behind him.
Cathy Davey, who was number one last week with The Nameless, drops to number 7, with LCD Soundsystem’s This Is Happening the second highest new entry at number 9.
Also making their debut this week are The Rolling Stones’ revamped Exile On Mean Street at 14 and Tiesto’s Magikal Journey – The Hits Collection at 17.
Villagers also sit atop the new Irish Indie Chart with Cathy Davey at number two, The National’s High Violet at three and recent Hot Press cover star Josh Ritter at number four with So Runs The World Away.
There are also debuts at number nine for Faithless’ The Dance and at number 11 for Tracey Thorn’s Love And Its Opposite.
