Judas Priest release video for cover of 'War Pigs' by Black Sabbath
Ahead of Black Sabbath's swan song on July 5, Judas Priest release a video of their 'War Pigs' cover
Judas Priest have shared the video for their rendition of Black Sabbath's signature track 'War Pigs'.
The anti-war protest song was originally released in 1970, as the opening track of Black Sabbath's second studio album, Paranoid.
On YouTube, Judas Priest said they were "honoured to show our love for Ozzy and Black Sabbath with our homage", adding that 'War Pigs' was a song they regularly performed for fans around the world.
The group consists of lead vocalist Rob Halford, guitarists Glenn Tipton, Richie Faulkner, and Andy Sneap, bassist Ian Hill, and drummer Scott Travis. The Birmingham rockers, who are regarded as one of the most significant heavy metal bands of the 1970s, were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2022.
Their 19th studio album, Invincible Shield, arrived in 2024, debuting at number two on the UK Albums Chart, the highest position in the band's discography to date.
On July 5, the founding members of Black Sabbath—lead singer Ozzy Osbourne, drummer Bill Ward, guitarist Tony Iommi, and bassist Geezer Butler—will give a special reunion performance at Birmingham's Villa Park.
Titled Back To The Beginning, the event will host Osbourne's "final performance" as well as sets by Metallica, Guns N' Roses, Slayer, Halestorm, and many other major acts.
The all-day festival will not see Judas Priest, since the date coincides with their performance at the German hard rock group Scorpions' 60th anniversary celebration in Hannover.
