Vieux Farka Toure makes Irish debut
He's appearing as part of the free Africa Day @ Iveagh Gardens festival.
Malian guitarist Vieux Farka Toure has been confirmed as the headline attraction on May 24 as Africa Day @ Iveagh Gardens makes Dublin 2 an infinitely more exotic and musical place to be.
Taking place to mark Africa Day 2009, there will also be music from Malawian chart-topper Kenny Gilmore, Cathey Davy, Kíla, Irish-based Congolese musician Niwel Tsumbu, Frances Black and Liam O Maonlai.
Running from noon till 8pm, there will also be African food, sports and dance, a kids’ area and a variety of spoken word events. The even better news is that admission is free.
