Gerry McAvoy’s Band of Friends announce a run of Irish shows honouring Rory Gallagher
Find more ticket information below.
Gerry McAvoy's Band of Friends have announced four upcoming Irish gigs celebrating legendary guitarist Rory Gallagher's 78th Birthday.
The shows will take place at The Everyman, Cork on Thursday March 5, The Belfast Empire, Belfast on Friday March 6, Whelan's, Dublin on Saturday March 7 and Dolan's Limerick, Limerick on Sunday March 8.
They are set to perform a mix of their own material and Gallagher's.
McAvoy, former bassist in Gallagher’s live band, played, recorded and toured with Gallagher for 20 years (from 1971 to 1991), and played on every solo album that Gallagher released.
In 2012 McAvoy formed Band of Friends to honour the legacy of Gallagher.
In July, McAvoy performed alongside American guitarist Joe Bonamassa during a three-night tribute to Gallagher at Live at the Marquee in Cork.
Tickets for all four shows go on sale Thursday, August 28. Tickets for the Cork show can be found here and all other tickets can be found here.
