Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce announce their engagement

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce have shared news of their engagement via Instagram.

The couple's joint post featured images of the romantic moment in a lush flower garden.

"Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married," read the caption.

The post immediately racked up likes, receiving over one million in less than 10 minutes. At the time of writing the post has over 29 million likes.

Moreover, as is with any other Swift announcement, the news generated responses from fans, celebrities and brands.

The $400 (€345) dress that Swift was wearing in her engagement photos sold out 20 minutes after the post dropped.

Duolingo, the official page for DreamWorks’s Shrek, the Empire State Building and numerous other companies commented on the news.

The couple even received attention from United States President Donald Trump.

"I wish him a lot of luck. No, I think he’s a great player, I think he’s a great guy. I think that she’s a terrific person. So I wish them a lot of luck," said Trump, changing his tone from previous comments.

In April, the American President said that he "can’t stand her (HATE!)" and that she is "NO LONGER HOT" in an X post.

The engagement news comes just after the pop star announced her 12th album The Life of a Showgirl, which fans expect to be about Kelce, set to release 3 October. Since the album was revealed, Swift has rolled out a number of limited-edition variant vinyls.

In other news, the Guinness Book of World Records has announced that Swift has won the most concurrent views for a podcast after her appearance on New Heights, hosted by her fiancé and his brother Jason Kelce, where she revealed her new album.
