Céline Dion returns to stage after long battle with rare autoimmune disorder
Céline Dion took a break from performing from 2022 to 2024, when she made a brief public appearance to sing at the Paris Olympics opening ceremony.
Céline Dion is set to return to stage after a long battle with a rare autoimmune disorder. The singer will play a five-week Paris residency at the Paris La Défense Arena this Autumn.
Commencing Saturday, September 12, Dion will visit Europe's largest indoor arena for ten shows. CELINE DION PARIS 2026 will feature her best known hits both in French and English, going until October 14.
The announcement was accompanied by a video, officially released on March 30, Dion's 58th birthday.
"This year, I’m getting the best birthday gift of my life…" said Dion.
"I'm getting the chance to see you, to perform for you once again in Paris, beginning in September! I’m feeling good, I’m strong, I’m feeling excited, obviously a little nervous, but most of all, I’m grateful to all of YOU! I love you all and I’ll see you soon!"
The array of shows marks Dion's return to stage after a battle with her diagnosis with stiff-person syndrome, a rare autoimmune neurological disorder. In 2022, she shared the news about her health struggles via a social media post.
The diagnosis later led her to cancel a number of gigs, including two 3Arena shows in April of that same year.
Dion took a break from performing until 2024, when she made a brief public appearance to sing at the Paris Olympics opening ceremony. In June of that same year, she released her documentary I am: Celine Dion, where she opens up about the challenges of her diagnosis, as well as the behind-the-scenes of her career and personal life.
Stiff-person syndrome (SPS) is a rare, progressive autoimmune neurological disorder, characterised by painful muscle stiffness and spasms. It often causes severe mobility issues, typically triggered by noise or stress.
Dion is best-known for her hits 'My Heart Will Go On', 'Think Twice' and 'It’s All Coming Back To Me Now', and has sold more than 250 million albums during her 40-year career. She has also won five Grammys, two Oscars, and the Billboard Music Award lifetime achievement icon award.
General ticket sale for PARIS 2026 will begin on Friday, April 10 at 9:00AM here.
