David Keenan announces new live album Dundalk To Dublin
The 16-track LP will be released July 24 and features recordings from two recent gigs by the singer in Dublin's Whelan's and Dundalk's Spirit Store.
David Keenan has announced a new 16-track live album Dundalk To Dublin, set to be released Friday, July 24.
Though the album will be available on all streaming platforms, a free download version will be shared to Bandcamp, "as a small sign of my gratitude to you all."
The live album features recordings spanning two recent performances at Dublin's Whelan's and Dundalk's Spirit Store, as both of the venues were "formative in [his] journey as a songwriter."
As a performer, Keenan has always embraced the atmosphere of a live show, stating is his Hot Press Dispatches from the Bóthar, that gigs for him hold a special kind of magic or 'draíocht' - adding, "AI can never replicate the unpredictability and pure togetherness of a live gig. Keep the fire lit."
"Bless the live gig, the alive rooms and the grassroots community hubs like @spiritstore.ie & @whelanslive that are at the hearth of our musical landscape," Keenan shared to his Instagram, announcing the live album.
"I’ll keep pouring the soul’s content out into song if you keep turning up ❤️"
This is not the artist's first live album, as he released Alchemy & Prose: Live Recordings in 2020 for Record Store Day, which captured his show at the Olympia Theatre. Keenan recently performed in the TG4 show Buille on July 15, an Irish language music show recorded live over six nights at Cyprus Avenue in Cork.
