Fresh from his criticisms of RTÉ radio’s music policy in the current issue of Hot Press, Pierce Turner has announced details of his new single ‘Julie London’.
The song is a tribute to the California-born London, a sultry '50s actress and singer who has a substantial following on the easy listening market. She is possibly best known for her million-selling 1957 hit version of ‘Cry Me A River’. She starred in the films The Girl Can’t Help It and Man Of The West and the TV drama series Emergency.
The physical version of the single includes two additional tracks, ‘Our Father’ and ‘Big Recession Bruise’. All three tracks are Turner compositions, with ‘Big Recession Bruise’ a credit crunch update of his 1997 song ‘Big Bruise’.
Turner plays The Pavilion, Carey’s Lane, Cork on June 28 and the Wexford Arts Centre on July 4.
