Tributes paid to young Finglas rapper, Lil' Red
15-year-old Seán Hughes passed away on Friday.
Hot Press is deeply saddened by the death of Seán Hughes, AKA talented young Finglas rapper Lil’ Red, who passed away on Friday shortly after going to his GP with a chest infection.
Hot Press Assistant Editor, Stuart Clark, witnessed Seán’s talents first-hand at the 2016 Let’s Talk About Drugs National Youth Media Awards when he performed with his Colaiste Eoin schoolmates.
“He had an incredible command of language, and blew everyone away with his passionate delivery,” Stuart says. “He had bags of personality and the ability to communicate with his peers. Our condolences to his family and friends.”
Echoing those sentiments, music manager Dean Scurry says: “Seán brought a smile to my face every time we met. A true gent, passionate, friendly and full of love.”
The CEO of the Ana Liffey Drug Project, Tony Duffin, adds: “So shocked and sad to hear of the passing of Seán Hughes. I had the privilege of meeting him and hearing him rap on two occasions at the Drugs.ie Media Awards. He was brilliant.”
