Trent Reznor releases first recordings from post-NIN project
How to Destroy Angels is a collaborative project involving the man behind the seminal electronic/industrial-rock innovations of Nine-Inch-Nails and also includes his wife and some old friends.
The band has released its first 6-track EP free of charge from their website with Reznor stating the EP is "a very early phase of this project," which the band hadn't planned on releasing to the public, until they realized how much they actually liked the recordings.
Reznor has also hinted that this first EP may sound a lot more like NIN then future releases as the new band begins to find its own feet.
In an online Q&A, Reznor gave away some secrets regarding the future of the project when asked this question:
Q:"Is the writing just as collaborative as the music? Please, tell us - just how separate are we to consider NIN from How to Destroy Angels? Are you striving to make HDA have a musical identity of its own? With its own fan base? Own agenda? Own vision? Are you expecting (for lack of a better word) NIN fans to receive HDA well? To appreciate and respect HDA while still loving NIN?"
To which he answered: ""Whoa... what??"
The How to Destroy Angels EP is available now free in high quality mp3, but as you would have come to expect by now with Reznor, there is also a HD package available for $2.00 which includes lossless, high-quality file formats among other treats. A debut album from the band is expected later this year.
