Bono and The Edge to perform at Obama Presidential Center's grand opening
Among the U2 members, musicians such as Bruce Springsteen, Eddie Vedder and John Legend will perform.
Bono and The Edge are among the major artists set to perform at the opening of the Obama Presidential Center in Chicago on June 18.
The U2 members will join numerous musicians featuring Bruce Springsteen, Stevie Wonder, John Legend, Eddie Vedder, Christina Aguilera, Common, Jennifer Hudson, Marc Anthony, Marsai Martin, The Roots, and Tems.
Former US President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama are expected to attend the ceremony, marking the official opening of the long-awaited centre.
Announcing the line-up in an Instagram post on Tuesday, the Obama Foundation wrote: “We are bringing together some of today’s most prominent voices and global icons for the Obama Presidential Center Grand Opening Ceremony."
The festivities will occur at 11 a.m. CT, Thursday, June 18 and will be live streamed here.
Located in Chicago's South Side, the center will house a museum and civic campus celebrating the legacy of Barack Obama's presidency. The center will also include community and conference facilities and will house the nonprofit Obama Foundation.
The appearance will see Bono reunite with Obama at a major public event, following years of collaboration on humanitarian and anti-poverty initiatives. U2 previously performed during celebrations surrounding Obama's first inauguration in 2009.
The Obama center opens to the public on June 19.
