Trailer released for Michael Jackson: The Verdict docuseries
The three-part series will focus on his 2005 trial and is set to premiere on June 3
A new documentary titled Michael Jackson: The Verdict, about the 2005 criminal trial of Michael Jackson, is set to premiere on Netflix on June 3.
The three-part series examines the singer's 2005 trial, in which he faced multiple charges of child molestation. Jackson was ultimately acquitted on all 10 counts.
The documentary features interviews with people involved in the trial, including jurors and journalists who covered the case.
The series is directed by Nick Green, known for A Dangerous Dynasty: House of Assad, while Fiona Stourton serves as executive producer.
“It has been 20 years since the trial of Michael Jackson in which he was found not guilty. Yet, to this day, controversy still rages.”, the filmmakers said, speaking to Netflix.
“No cameras were allowed in court, and so the public’s view of the facts at the time were filtered by commentators and presented piecemeal. It was time to take a forensic look at the trial as a whole.”
The documentary arrives a little more than a month after the release of Michael, a biopic covering the singer's early life and career. The film grossed more than $713.2 million worldwide, making it the fourth highest-grossing music biopic of all time. The movie did not explore any allegations made against Jackson.
