Oasis: Don’t Look Back In Anger is one hell of a rock 'n' roll rollercoaster. In cinemas September 9, the Steven Knight-produced documentary is everything you'd hope for - and more

Christmas comes early for Noel ‘n’ Liam fans on Wednesday September 9th when Oasis: Don’t Look Back In Anger opens in Irish IMAX® and cinemas nationwide.

“We knew that the story of Oasis’ reunion had the potential to be explosive, and that the weight of expectation from fans would make it a hugely significant cultural event, but nothing prepared us for the genuine outpouring of joy and emotion from fans – old and new – in stadiums around the globe,” directors Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace reflect. “It became important to us to reflect that back to audiences, and in doing so say something truthful about the world today. Oasis: Don't Look Back in Anger is ultimately, as its title suggests, a film about forgiveness, and hopefully one that strikes a chord in the times we are living in.”

Spanning twelve concerts over three continents, the documentary was created and written by Steven Knight who’s previously wowed us with the likes of Peaky Blinders, A Thousand Blows and House Of Guinness.

“I genuinely cannot wait for the world to see this film,” enthuses Steven, who fell in love with Oasis the moment he heard their first single, ‘Supersonic’ . “I believe it captures the spirit and emotion of a global cultural moment and does justice to the wit and genius of two exceptional people. I wanted to tell the story of the brothers and the band, but just as important, the story of the fans whose lives the music has touched and sometimes changed forever. It is also the story of how music and songwriting can unite generations, cultures, countries, and in a time of spite and division, give us all some reason to hope.”

Along with the pick of the action from those Oasis Live ’25 shows, the documentary includes Liam and Noel’s first joint interview in twenty years – “It’s a joy to see them laughing and reminiscing; they’re both natural comedians,” notes Dylan Southern – and the first ever footage of an Oasis live rehearsal.

“We wanted those weeks of rehearsals to feel completely candid,” Steven Knight resumes. “To achieve this, we designed a remote rig of cameras, enabling us to shoot in a way that meant the band never saw a single member of the film crew. We just locked them in place and let them roll.”

For Irish fans, Oasis: Don’t Look Back In Anger will conjure up visceral memories of the band’s double whammy of Croke Park shows on August 16 and 17, 2025.

“The songs rang out triumphantly into the Dublin night,” Hot Press’ Will Russell reported. “These Irish men had come home. And it was more than worth the wait. Magic stuff indeed. Gigs don’t come any better than this!”
