The documentary premiered at Cork Film Festival in November 2025, where it won the Best Feature Film Prize. The film debuted internationally at Hot Docs Film Festival in Toronto in May.
The Kabin Crew was established in 2012 by producer Gary McCarthy. It is a collective of young rappers, singers, songwriters and creatives based at The Kabin Studio, a not-for-profit creative arts hub on Cork’s Northside.
The group went viral in 2024 with their single 'The Spark' with the Lisdoonvarna Crew, the song amassed over two billion social media views. It was longlisted for the 2025 Grammy Awards and won the RTÉ Choice Music Prize Irish Song of the Year.
The Kabin Krew also recorded a song, 'The Sound of the Northside', for Brendan Canty's 2025 film Christy, which follows the story of a teenager navigating adolescence in Cork’s northside. They released their latest single, 'Lunchbox Flex', in August.
Canty is currently directing the first season of The Boys of Tommen, based on Chloe Walsh's best-selling series. The show is set in Cork, and follows a forbidden love story between rugby star Johnny Kavanagh and shy new girl Shannon Lynch. The series is set to air on Prime Video in 2027.
Súil Amháin (Séamus Barra Ó Súilleabháin) is a rapper and poet from Listowel, Co. Kerry. He released his debut album, athPhORT in 2024. He created a spoken word piece about his experience working at The Kabin Studio, which features in the film.
