Myles O'Reilly launches Glen Hansard Footage Archive to share "hundreds of hours of unseen footage"

Musician and filmmaker Myles O'Reilly has announced the Glen Hansard Footage Archive to share "hundreds of hours of unseen footage."

Pieced together from footage recorded over years of collaboration between O'Reilly and Hansard, the archive begins with his show at the Iveagh Gardens in 2013, "For more than a decade, Glen invited me into his world with a camera."

The footage, which is spread across different hard drives, will be edited together to establish an archive and ultimately creating a documentary.

It's been given the working title of This Is Not A Documentary About Glen Hansard and is being uploaded in parts to Patreon, you can access the archive here.

"Like a gardener, Glen provided the right soil for me to grow," O'Reilly said in a Facebook post, regarding their close working relationship.

"I was a sapling filmmaker, and he nurtured me in such a way that I grew into a strong tree. The friendship he created through our work was always as close and personal as that."

O'Reilly has previously collaborated with former president of Ireland Michael D. Higgins on his spoken word album Against All Certainty, which was accompanied by ambient music arrangements. He also collaborated with Rónán Ó Snodaigh, co-producing the albums Tá Go Maith in 2021 and The Beautiful Road in 2023.
