Jack and Meg round off a phenomenally successful twelve months with this limited edition release from Elephant. As if you needed reminding, the lead track is a glorious collision of Jon Spencer Blues Explosion-style garage rock and Queen-esque mock-operatics. Throw in a lethally addictive b-side medley – comprised of the hollering blues stomper ‘I Fought Piranhas’ and the wailing punk thrash ‘Let’s Build A Home’ – and this record offers a stunning reminder of why so many people fell in love with The White Stripes in the first place. An Irish date sometime soon would be nice, mind.
