Theme from Chalets/ Sexy Mistake

New Favourite Band Alert. Dublin group The Chalets are a mightily refreshing blast of fiesty rock and quirky pop, whose double A sided debut dons a pair of six inch stilettos and runs rings around the rest of this fortnight’s singles. ‘Theme From Chalets’ is the clincher, complete with gnarly guitar riffs, an utterly infectious chorus and, er, unique cartoon-soft-porn type dialogue between the four vocalists (two boys, two girls). Whether or not The Chalets’ novelty value will extend beyond single number one remains to be seen, but judging by this three-minute masterpiece, the odds are definitely on.
