The Strokes announce Dublin show
The gig marks their first Irish show since 2020.
The Strokes have announced a show at the 3Arena in Dublin on October 28.
The gig is the final date from their Reality Awaits global tour, which will see the New York-formed five-piece traverse North America, the U.K., Europe and Japan, kicking off in June.
News of the tour follows last week's announcement of their seventh studio album, Reality Awaits, which is set to be out on June 26. The band also shared the first single from the album, 'Going Shopping'.
Recorded in Costa Rica with Rick Rubin, Reality Awaits comes more than 6 years after The Strokes’s 2020 album, The New Abnormal, which won a Grammy that year for Best Rock Album.
Speaking on the long gap between albums in an interview after the release, bassist Nikolai Fraiture said, “It’s just a matter of when it feels right to put something out, and when it feels right for all of us, based on what we're all doing in our lives.”
Since The New Abnormal, band members have been pursuing a number of different projects on their own: 2023 saw a solo album from guitarist Albert Hammond Jr. and an EP from Fraiture’s band Summer Moon; 2024 saw an album from lead singer Julian Casablancas’s band The Voidz and an EP from guitarist Nick Valensi’s band CRX.
The Strokes played Coachella this past weekend, and will be playing at a number of different festivals this summer, including Bonaroo, Outside Lands, and the Sea.Hear.Now Festival.
Their Dublin date will be the band's first Irish gig since they played Electric Picnic in 2019 followed by a the Waterfront Hall in Belfast in 2020.
Pre sale for their 3Arena show begins on Wednesday, April 15, while general sale opens on Friday, April 17 at 10am via Ticketmaster.ie.
