The Steve Reid Ensemble visit Dublin
Steve Reid brings his jazz ensemble, featuring Four Tet man Kieran Hebden – to Dublin next month.
The Steve Reid Ensemble feat. Kieran Hebden arrive in Dublin on October 26 for a date at The Button Factory.
Reid and Hebden have collaborated regularly over the past few years, performing a series of improvised live shows, including a memorable performance at the Dublin Fringe Festival in 2006, an Electric Picnic set last year and a gig in Tripod some months later.
This time around, Reid – who has played with such greats as Miles Davis, James Brown and Sun Ra – is playing in support of his new album Daxaar, recorded in Dakar and released on Domino. The record is described as “a groove based, funky affair with touches of Bitches Brew and Ra.”
Four Tet man Hebden contributed some electro grooves to the album and also acted as producer.
Tickets for The Button Factory date are available now for €21.50 from Ticketmaster and usual outlets nationwide.
