The Shins share preview of new music
The teaser posted on the band’s Instagram account confirms the announcement that the American outfit will be releasing new music in 2016
We haven’t heard anything new from The Shins since 2014 when they released one-off track ‘So Now What’.
Four years have transpired since The Shins' last album, but they hinted in a 2015 newsletter that they had a musical project in the pipeline. Sure enough, they today treated their Instagram followers to a brief teaser to which you can listen below.
As for what we can expect from the new record, Yuuki Matthews, the rock band’s bassist, instagrammed a photo saying, “There's gonna be a LOT of acoustic bass guitar on the next Shins record.”
The US group’s last album Port of Morrow was received with critical acclaim despite the change of line-up which saw the departure of three of the band’s founding members, only frontman James Mercer holding strong. The only other peep out of the band since that 2012 LP was the aforementioned ‘So Now What’, which they contributed to the Zach Braff film Wish I was Here.
It goes with out saying that their new album is awaited with much anticipation; get a taste of what to expect with the clip below.
