The National release the raw new single 'Eucalyptus' with a music video
'Eucalyptus' is the third song released from The National's upcoming ninth studio album First Two Pages of Frankenstein, to be released in April ahead of their 2023 tour.
American rock band The National has released a new single from their upcoming album First Two Pages of Frankenstein, which comes out April 28th via 4AD.
The track 'Eucalyptus' is the third song released from the new album, coming out after their singles 'Tropic Morning News' and 'New Order T-Shirt.'
'Eucalyptus' originally premiered in a live performance. Matt Berninger, the band's lead singer, said that they rehearsed it only twice before playing it. According to Dork, he says that "what you hear on the album was partially recorded during that performance."
"It’s got this raw, immediate feeling, and it made sense to leave the rough edges instead of trying to perfect them."

About a break up, he says it's themed after the questions about separating the little intertwined parts of the couple's lives in the after.
The monochromatic, sometimes grainy music video certainly lends itself to instilling the melancholic, resigned feeling the song embodies.
The ninth album was announced alongside the band's 2023 tour, which will include a date at Dublin's 3Arena this September. Soccer Mommy, The Beths, and Bartees Strange will open the show.
Artfully crafted at Long Pond Studios in New York, First Two Pages of Frankenstein will include guest artists like Taylor Swift, Phoebe Bridgers, and Sufjan Stevens.
