The Kinks release reunion details

In an interview with Britain's The Sunday Times, Ray Davies of The Kinks revealed that he had spoken in person for the first time in years with his brother Dave. Communication between the pair was limited to emails and phone calls.

With this reconciliation, the chance of a Kinks reunion becomes a very real possibility, with Ray suggesting that new material and a following tour being in the cards.

"He’s been composing his own songs, but I’d really like to write with him again," said Ray of working with his brother. "We both agree we don’t want to do old stuff or tour with past hits. It’s got to be something new."

The Kinks, who haven't performed together since 1996, began their reconciliation during the process of of creating and releasing The Kinks based musical Sunny Afternoon, which Ray assisted with in the script and music.

The original bassist of The Kinks, Pete Quaife, passed away in 2010. Reunion plans are in such an infantile stage that one couldn't even speculate on who would take his position.
