Tara Blaise goes European
Emerging Irish star-in-the-making Tara Blaise has been snapped up by Warners in Spain and Portugal.
The deal, under which the singer's debut album Dancing On Tables Barefoot will be licensed by the major label giant, from John Hughes and Barry Gaster's Spokes label, gives Blaise her first foothold outside Ireland and the UK.
"Immediately after they heard the record, they wanted it," Gaster told Hot Press. "That's the attitude you want in a record company. You know that they'll put the work into promoting it."
Meanwhile the single 'Paperback Cliché' continues its run in the upper reaches of the Irish radio play charts – a position it has attained despite the fact that it hasn't yet garnered significant support from 2FM.
Over the past ten days, Tara has been widely featured on local stations, doing interviews and in the process copper-fastening the support the single has already received in this sector.
The album was the recipient of a glowing review from Mark Edwards of the Sunday Times, boosting its profile significantly in the UK.
Blaise, who recently played to about 10,000 people at the Isle of Wight festival, features in the Green Room at Oxegen on Saturday.
