Dea Matrona announce Dublin gig
The Belfast duo will play the Academy later this year
Dea Matrona have announced a Dublin show later this year. The rock duo will play The Academy on November 28.
The concert is part of a wider European tour spanning 27 dates and follows the release of their second album, Hate That I Care.
The Belfast natives, made up of Mollie McGinn and Orláith Forsythe, released the album as the follow-up to their 2024 debut, For Your Sins, which reached No. 1 on the UK Independent Albums Chart.
"When we weren’t touring, I fell into a nocturnal routine and became disconnected from many of the people I care about”, says McGinn.“‘Hate That I Care’ (the title track) is written to myself rather than anyone else, capturing the exhaustion that comes from masking emotions and trying to be present in a way that feels genuine."
The duo first gained prominence through busking on the streets of Belfast before going on to support artists such as Sting, Sheryl Crow and Bryan Adams on tour.
Hot Press reviewed Hate That I Care, writing: “Confidently sidestepping difficult second-album syndrome, the record dips a Doc Marten into the realms of goth, grunge and ’90s power pop.”
Tickets are available Friday, June 12 here.
