Tame Impala top new UK Prog Rock chart
Genre is finally recognised by Official Chart Company
It might be over four decades since the heyday of Prog Rock, but the much-maligned genre has finally earned recognition in the UK from the Official Chart Company.
The first official chart will be published next week, and top dogs in the inaugural rundown are Tame Impala, who'll be joining us at the Hot Press Chatroom this coming Sunday.
Whether topping the Prog Rock chart is a compliment or not, who knows - truth be told, their LP Currents barely registered on the HP Progometer - but, as the OCC head honcho Martin Talbot opines, "Progressive music is as alive and kicking as it's ever been. It's more a state of mind than a genre."
