SUNSHINE/TEARS OF A CLOWN
Mali have a long way to go.
Galwegian quartet Mali’s double A-side opens with the rather uninspiring, pop-rock effort ‘Sunshine’ before committing rock ‘n’ roll suicide with the painfully loose ballad, ‘Tears Of A Clown’. The drumming sounds like it was lifted straight from a marching band and each half-hearted vocal wail is drowned in lashings of muddy reverb in a vain attempt to disguise the fact that it’s horribly out of tune. If one thing’s for sure, Mali have a long way to go.
