Irish punk band SPRINTS have announced they will proceed with their Minneapolis gig tonight, after two people were shot and killed by ICE agents
"As a band we vehemently believe in the power of the arts as an act of community, love and solidarity," they said on Instagram.
"We believe in the power of catharsis and channeling our energies into the creative catharsis of music. We believe in creating safe spaces for those who are marginalised, persecuted and seeking shelter from the pain of the outside world"."It is for those reasons that we have decided to go ahead with our show in Minneapolis this evening," they added.
The band promised to donate a portion of their merch sales to IRRF (Immigrant Rapid Response Fund), a coalition of philanthropic leaders and community partners helping people most impacted by immigration-related harm.
"Music is an act of resistance and we stand with you," they said.
Before SPRINTS went on their US tour, they performed the first ever Irish War Child show with BROOKI at Whelan's, Dublin.
