Brad Arnold passed away at 47 after a long battle with cancer.
3 Doors Down singer Brad Arnold has died at 47 after a long battle with kidney cancer.
The band posted about Arnold's passing on social media, sharing their condolences with his friends and family.
"Brad helped redefine mainstream rock music, blending post-grunge accessibility with emotionally direct song writing and lyrical themes that resonated with everyday listeners," they said in the statement.
Arnold shared the news about his diagnosis in a video to the fans in May of last year, saying:
"I have no fear, I really sincerely am not scared of it at all". "I'd love for you to lift me up in prayer every chance you get," he added.
The band cancelled their 2025 summer tour due to Arnold's condition. He had to be hospitalised as the cancer had spread to his lungs.
Arnold wrote the band's 2000 breakout single 'Kryptonite', from their debut studio album The Better Life, when he was just15 years old. The American rock band formed in 1996 in Escatawpa, Mississippi. They're best known for their 2000s hits like 'Here Without You', 'When I'm Gone', and 'Loser'. The band won a total of three Billboard Music Awards, with their debut record becoming the 18th biggest-selling album of the year 2000 in the US.
Arnold was the founding member, vocalist, and the original drummer of the band. The news about his passing follow the death of guitarist and another founding member of the original trio, Matt Roberts, who died in 2016 at age 38.
Arnold is survived by his wife, Jennifer.
